Prof. Tom Moylan
I am a cultural studies and literary scholar who studies utopianism, in the form of literary and texts and political and social practices. At SAUL, I teach the a module on utopian thought and practice to fifth year students. I am the Glucksman Professor Emeritus in the School of Languages, Literature, Culture and an Adjunct Professor at SAUL. I am the Founder and Co-Director of the Ralahine Centre for Utopian Studies, where I am also one of the editors of the Ralahine Utopian Studies Book Series. I have published two monographs on utopian and dystopian science fiction and numerous essays on utopia, dystopia, theology, pedagogy, and political agency. I am co-editor of several volumes, including Not Yet: Reconsidering Ernst Bloch and Utopia-Method-Vision: The Use Value of Social Dreaming. With Nathaniel Coleman (Architecture) of Newcastle University and Diane Morgan (Cultural Studies) of Leeds University, I organised the Utopia and Architecture Working Group in 2011.
