Dr. Anna Ryan

I am an architect and cultural geographer, having graduated with a B.Arch. first class honours from the School of Architecture, University College Dublin in 2000 and a PhD from the Department of Geography, University College Cork in 2008. I practised as an architect with Grafton Architects in Dublin for two years and was editor of building material, the journal of the Architectural Association of Ireland, for another two years. From 2002 to 2004 I was a part-time tutor in Geography at UCC, and from 2004 to 2006 was a part-time tutor in Architecture at UCD. Since 2007 I am a full-time Lecturer (below the bar) in Architecture at SAUL where I follow particular interests in landscape, writing, drawing and photography through my teaching and research. A monograph emerging from my PhD research, Where Land Meets Sea: coastal explorations of landscape, representation and spatial experience, was published by Ashgate in 2012.
