Design studio as an educational model

In collaboration with Dr. Eimear Flynn, I am conducting research into the attributes of the design studio as an educational model, with the potential of using lessons learned to develop teaching and learning in a medical context

Coal Holes and Bootscrapers

Through mapping, photographing, drawing and making casts, the research explores the qualities of the historic street furniture of Limerick City. These products were exhibited as part of Heritage Week 2012, as well as forming part of Culture Night Limerick 2012, and Open House Limerick 2012

Conferences:

Papers on both areas of the research were presented at the AIARG 2013 in Limerick in January 2013.

A paper on the research into the design studio model of education and its potential uses in a medical context was presented in poster format at INMED 2012.

In collaboration with Feeney McMahon Architects, I was shortlisted in the design competition for the design of a new gymnasium building at Loreto Secondary School, Dalkey, County Dublin.
